In 1999, “See the Rainbow” was given to me through an open vision where I heard and saw a performance of the chorus of the song. I wrote the verses some time after that experience, through prayer and meditation concerning the purpose of it.  The Lord used that to remind me that He indeed had a plan to use me in music and I reflected on that open vision many times, especially when dream killers attempted to take out the gift.

“For The Kids” came to me while attending a conference in Hawaii in 2006.  We spent some time with the founders of the Yatooma’s For the Kids Foundation and I started to hear a melody and the words “for the kids”.  One afternoon at the pool side, I said to the founder’s wife, “I think I am supposed to write your theme song.” Afterward I went back to our suite; I sat on the balcony, in the dark, and wrote lyrics.  I was thinking about what children must go through who have experienced the loss of a parent (this was a very emotionally challenging song to write because I experienced grief while interceding). Upon our return home I did not have the same paper with me when more lyrics came to mind, so I wrote more and later put the two portions together and there it was.  I ran this song past my newly secured producer who said “I’ll take that” and he went to work right away.  We brought kids into the studio, one of them being the founder’s daughter (only the wife knew about the song), and after two weeks the track was made and we were able to present the song to the family as a surprise one Sunday during our church service (this is the family who experienced the murder of their father).  The widow was there as well, who had been praying for a theme song for the foundation. There were many, many tears of gratitude.  Emotions ran very high. It was a priceless time.  Later in the week we performed the song at the foundation’s black tie benefit auction, which was also a great success.  All glory to God for this purposeful song.

“Keep Your Mind” was sung over me one morning by angels in 2004.  While in a writing session, mapping out songs for the project, we added a musical change to lengthen the song.  This is truly a song of deliverance.

“God Is With Me” was one I started writing with a different melody.  Noel had presented a song with great music and no lyrics, one I really wanted to have on the project. I put my lyrics to his music, and then he added some lyrics as well.  This was so much fun to record; we had a blast with this one.

“We Expect Miracles” was inspired by a miracle crusade ministry out of our church (www.dominicrusso.org ). I thought about crusaders and what they might say when preparing for events, so I wrote what I felt I would say if I were in their place.  I was placing a demand on God’s powerful ability to bring change where it would not happen otherwise. Eric Reed built the foundational music and helped in structuring the song.  In the writing session he mentioned a victorious experience in his life, saying “for God’s glory”, so I grabbed that line “all for Your glory.”  It was such an honor to bring this song forth.  Noel took my reprise idea and created a wonderful picture of what I see/hear as mighty angels opening a door and move in as The Lord brings healing, salvation and deliverance.  I wanted to end my project by putting a melody in the listener’s hearts where they would repeatedly recount the words “to heal, save and set free.”
